Late Dec./2006, in a local fossil power plant in Taiwan, cracks developed on a metal expansion joint, which was used to stop ambient air from being sucked into the over-heated steam pipe (-1kg/cm2, 370°C). To repair or to replace the failed metal joint will be very difficult and can only be done with the system being shut down. Alternative to solve the problem became immeniant. We were called on and came up with a very cost effective new designed composite fabric expansion. |
We spent less than 7 days to get the job done (from order to installation) whilst the system remained in operation. Since then, the pressure in the duct came down again to and maintained at -1kg/cm2. The power plant people were happy with the results. |
